THE ROLE OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR IN THE ECONOMY BASED ON KNOWLEDGE

In the present day conditions the prospects of the knowledge-based economy largely depend on successful solution of coordination of science, education and production on the basis of obtaining and application of new knowledge. The article determines the function of the government sector providing compliance of education with innovative economic development requirements. State educational services are rendered according to the principles of public sector economics. The article examines main conclusion from the public sector economics. The author substantiates that as we progress towards the knowledge-based economy the function of the government sector will grow, the necessity of state regulation and management of education will increase.
